‘Is Venice near here? It seems an interesting place to visit,’ said Xavier.
‘No, not exactly,’ said Joe.
‘Bilbao perhaps?’
‘Also not very close. I think you might need to read a little about geography next, so that you have a sense of where these places are in the world and how they interrelate.’ Jo brought up a webpage on the subject and once again, they watched as the clone whizzed through the information at what seemed to them an amazing speed.
‘I understand this world is very large,’ said Xavier.
Joe gave him an atlas, which he glanced through and then remarked ‘I already have all this information from the tablet. But thank you.’
‘Are you hungry yet?’ Kim felt they needed a break from education and her own stomach was growling. It had been a long time since lunch with the children.
‘Starving.’ Joe grimaced. ‘What’s for supper?’
‘I can prepare a lasagne if you have the ingredients?’ offered Xavier. ‘I watched a video for that this morning.’
‘I think so, let’s go and look.’ Kim and Xavier went off to the kitchen and soon Joe heard the sound of cupboard doors opening and closing, followed by much chopping and sizzling. A waft of frying onions crept into the room and his mouth watered. He reckoned there was about half an hour until the mealtime, giving him plenty of time to send an SOS to Jean-Claude.
