Lie

This was worrying - the clones suggesting she lie. Kim had thought all clones had  behaviour programmed into them to be honest and transparent but now she realised she didn’t know the half of it, with the sentient ones.

‘Well, okay, I guess I can pretend you haven’t told me anything - for now,’ she said. ‘But there had better be a good reason for this. Reassure me there is no risk to anyone.’

‘There would be a greater risk if you did give that information out,’ said Emma.

Delphine nodded in agreement.

‘Hmm. I’m going to order some takeaway food - Joe’s very hungry and I’m beginning to feel that way myself. What would you like?’

‘We don’t know anything about takeaway food, but everything we have eaten here has been very acceptable, so whatever you choose will be fine. Thank you,’ said Emma.

‘It’ll probably take me half an hour or so to get it. Are you going to come down or would you rather stay up here until I get back?’

Kim wasn’t surprised when they said they would prefer to wait in their room. They were obviously thoroughly upset by the men who had come looking for them, which was not surprising, given what they would face if they were returned to the warehouse. She went downstairs to discuss menus with Joe.
