I’m supposed to get a text when my return arrives back at the depot,’ said Kim as they headed for the car. ‘So we should know for sure when we're safe again. In the meantime, I vote we don't go home.
‘But you won't, will you?’ It had been a long day and Joe was longing for his slippers and his favourite chair, but he could see a problem with Kim’s statement.
‘How d’you mean?’
‘We haven't got our phone, have we? We lent it to Jean-Claude and goodness knows where it is now.’
‘I never thought of that.’ She considered for a moment. ‘I'll just ring them tomorrow and confirm they've received the box. That should be okay, don't you think?’
Joe shrugged wearily. ‘I hope so. Where were you thinking we should go, if not home? We can't exactly check all of us into a hotel. We can't cover the cost of all that.’ He glanced behind him at the five clones, standing silently together. ‘They don't look very happy, do they? I get the feeling they know something we don't.’
