She looked steadily at Xavier. ‘How much of a risk factor will it be, to ask this Euron to help find and release Joe?’
‘There is no risk to you. There is no reason to think Euron would harm you.’ His gaze slid away from hers.
‘Then do it, Please. Now.’
When Xavier left the room, the others stared at her.
‘Why do you think he answered you like that?’ said Brontë.
‘Like what?’ Kim was confused. She was still worrying about Joe and what he might be going through.
‘Xavier said there was no risk to you. Specifically you. Not anyone else.’
‘You’re overthinking this.’
‘Are we?’ said Delphine. ‘Xavier is very careful with his use of language. He would have said “us” if that is what he meant.’
